David Warner (cricketer)


David Andrew Warner is an Australian cricketer and the vice captain of the team in allformats of the game. An explosive lefthanded opening batsman, Warner is the first Australian cricketer in 132 years to be selected for a national team in any format without experience in firstclass cricket. He currently plays for New South Wales, the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Sydney Thunder. He became vicecaptain of Australia across Test amp ODI formats of the game, in August 2015.

David Andrew Warner was born at Paddington, a suburb in eastern Sydney, New South Wales. At the age ofhe was asked by his coach to switch to righthanded batting because he kept hitting the ball in the air. However one season later his mother, Sheila Warner , encouraged him to return to batting lefthanded and he broke the U16s run scoring record for the Sydney Coastal Cricket Club. He then made his first grade debut for the Eastern Suburbs club at the age ofand later toured Sri Lanka with the Australian under19s and earned a rookie contract with the state team. He has been seen practising hitting righthanded in 2016, which he had hit at least one switchhit in all forms of the game.
