Drew Barrymore


Drew Blythe Barrymore is an American actress, author, director, model and producer. She is a descendant of the Barrymore family of wellknown American stage and cinema actors, and is a granddaughter of actor John Barrymore. Barrymore first appeared in an advertisement when she was eleven months old. In 1980, she made her film debut in Altered States. In 1982, she starred in her breakout role as Gertie in Steven Spielbergs E.T. the ExtraTerrestrial and quickly became one of Hollywoods most recognized child actresses, going on to establish herself in mainly comic roles.

Barrymore was born in Culver City, California, to American actor John Drew Barrymore and Jaid Barrymore , an aspiring actress. Barrymores mother was born in a displaced persons camp in Brannenburg, West Germany, to Hungarian World War II refugees. Her parents divorced in 1984, when she was nine years old. She is one of four children with a halfbrother, John, who is also an actor.
