Evgeni Vladimirovich Malkin is a Russian professional ice hockey center and alternate captain for the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League . He is known for his remarkable skill set and ability to execute plays, earning him the reputation as one of the best players in the NHL. He currently wears number 71 on his jersey.

Evgeni Vladimirovich Malkin was born onJuly 1986 in Magnitogorsk, a Russian city in the Soviet Union to Vladimir and Natalia Malkin. Vladimir worked for Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works, the largest iron and steel works in Russia and the citys dominant industry, and played in the Metallurg Magnitogorsk youth and club hockey system. Malkin has one brother, Denis.
