Fareed Zakaria

Fareed Rafiq Zakaria is an Indianborn American journalist and author. He is the host of CNNs Fareed Zakaria GPS and writes a weekly column for The Washington Post. He has been a columnist for Newsweek, editor of Newsweek International, and an editoratlarge of Time. He is the author of five books, three of them international bestsellers, and the coeditor of one.

Zakaria was born in India to a Konkani Muslim family. His father, Rafiq Zakaria, was a politician associated with the Indian National Congress and an Islamic scholar. His mother, Fatima Zakaria, was for a time the editor of the Sunday Times of India.
