Gilad Shalit

Gilad Shalit , Gilad ali bornAugust 1986 is an Israeli sports columnist and a former MIA soldier of the Israel Defense Forces . OnJune 2006, Shalit was captured by Hamas militants in a crossborder raid via underground tunnels near the Israeli border. Hamas held him captive for over five years, until his release onOctober 2011 as part of a prisoner exchange deal.

Shalit was born onAugust 1986 in Nahariya, Israel, to Noam and Aviva Shalit. He has an older brother and a younger sister. He was raised from the age of two in Mitzpe Hila in the Western Galilee.
