Guillermo del Toro

Guillermo del Toro Gmez is a Mexican film director, screenwriter, producer, and novelist. In his filmmaking career, del Toro has alternated between Spanishlanguage dark fantasy pieces, such as the gothic horror film The Devils Backbone , and Pans Labyrinth , and more mainstream American action movies, such as the vampire superhero action film Blade II , the supernatural superhero film Hellboy , its sequel Hellboy II The Golden Army , and the science fiction monster film Pacific Rim .

Del Toro was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. He was raised in a strict Catholic household. Del Toro studied at the Centro de Investigacin y Estudios Cinematogrficos, in Guadalajara.
