Americus Vespucius Rice was a nineteenthcentury politician, banker, and businessman from Ohio. He served in the Union Army during the American Civil War and was promoted to brigadier general at the end of the war.
Rice was born in Perrysville, Ohio on November 18, 1835 to Clark Hammond Rice and Catherine Rice. He pursued in classical studies, attended Antioch College, graduated from Union College and studied law.
