Andrew Macphail

Sir John Andrew Macphail was a Canadian physician, author, professor of medicine, and soldier. A prolific and versatile writer, Sir Andrew Macphail was one of the most influential Canadian intellectuals of his time.

Macphail was born in Orwell, Prince Edward Island, on the familys newly purchased 100acre farm. His father was William Macphail, a schoolmaster his mother was Catherine Moore Smith formerly of Newton, P.E.I.
