Charles Victor Crosnier de Varigny was a French adventurer, diplomat, translator and writer.
He was born November 25, 1829 in Versailles. He was educated at Lyce Bourbon. He came with his father to the California Gold Rush. He married Louise Constantin August 14, 1852 in San Francisco, and worked for a French language newspaper, Lecho du Pacifique founded by tienne Derbec.
