Chief Powhatan

Powhatan , whose proper name was Wahunsenacawh , was the paramount chief of Tsenacommacah, an alliance of Algonquianspeaking Virginia Indians in the Tidewater region of Virginia at the time English settlers landed at Jamestown in 1607.
