Daniel Stewart (Brigadier General)

Daniel Stewart was an American politician and brigadier general in the Georgia Militia. He joined the militia in 1776 and served during the American Revolutionary War and the War of 1812.

He was born in Liberty County, Georgia to military officer John Stewart, Jr. and Susannah Bacon . Daniels paternal grandparents John Stewart, Sr. and Jerusha were English immigrants who settled in Dorchester, South Carolina. Daniels siblings who died young were Ann , Mary , and John III . He had two elder sisters who survived, Sarah Susannah . Daniel also had a younger halfsister, Elizabeth , from John Jr.s second marriage to Sarah Nickols.
