Dayton P. Clarke


Captain Dayton P. Clarke was an American soldier who fought in the American Civil War. Clarke received the countrys highest award for bravery during combat, the Medal of Honor, for his action during the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House in Virginia onMay 1864. He was honored with the award onJune 1892.

Clarke was born in Hermon, New York onDecember 1840. He enlisted into the 2nd Vermont Volunteer Infantry. He died onNovember 1915 and his remains are interred at the Green Mount Cemetery.
