Empress Myeongseong
Empress Myeongseong , known informally as Queen Min, was the first official wife of Gojong of Korea, the twentysixth king of Joseon and the first emperor of the Korean Empire.
The future queenconsort was born into the aristocratic Min family of the Yeoheung branch onOctober 1851 in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province, where the clan originated.
