Eugene W. Ferris was an American soldier who fought in the American Civil War. Ferris received the countrys highest award for bravery during combat, the Medal of Honor, for his action Berryville in Virginia onApril 1865. He was honored with the award onOctober 1897.
Ferris was born in Springfield, Vermont onNovember 1841. He joined the 30th Massachusetts Infantry from Lowell, Massachusetts in January 1862, and was commissioned as an officer the following August. He briefly served as regimental adjutant from February to April 1865, and mustered out with his regiment in December 1865. Ferris died onFebruary 1907 and his remains are interred at Rockville Cemetery in Rockville, Indiana.
