Evelyn Matthei
Evelyn Rose Matthei Fornet is a Chilean politician who served as Minister of Labor and Social Security under Chilean President Sebastin Piera until July 2013. She was the Independent Democrat Union Partys nominee for President of Chile in the 2013 elections.
Matthei was born in Santiago de Chile, the second child of Elda Fornet Fernndez and Fernando Matthei Aubel, a military officer. Her father was Minister of Health during Augusto Pinochets government later becoming Commanderinchief of the Air Force, and in this capacity, a member of the Military Junta until Chiles return to democracy.
