Francisco Manuel Chaves Pinheiro was a Brazilian sculptor.

Francisco Manuel Chaves Pinheiro was born in Rio de Janeiro onSeptember 1822. His parents were rsula Maria das Virgens and Manoel Bernardes Chaves. He entered the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts in 1835, at the age of thirteen. He registered in the Drawing class as Francisco Manoel Chaves de Bragana, adopting his mothers name. He enrolled in the sculpture class in 1836 as a student of Marc Ferrez. Chaves Pinheiro was to become one of Ferrezs bestknown pupils. In December 1845 at the age ofhe won the Academys gold medal for his Allegory of the Liberation of Brazil.
