Gerhard von Schwerin
Gerhard Helmuth Detloff Graf von Schwerin was a 20th Century German soldier, with an extensive military fighting career in both World Waras a junior commissioned officer, and World Waras a general.
Gerhard von Schwerin was born to a Prussian aristocratic family in Hannover in Lower Saxony in 1899. He was the youngest ofchildren. His father, Kurt Detloff, Count of Schwerin was a civil official in the Prussian State Government, his mother was Anna von Puttkamer . As a child he was by nature a loner. He received his childhood schooling in Anklam, at the age ofentering the military cadet school at Koslin. Joining the Prussian Armys 2nd Foot Guards Regiment as a Fahnrich , he subsequently transferred to the 2nd Grenadier Regiment.
