Harry H. Caldwell
Harry Handly Caldwell was Americas first submarine captain. He became the first naval submarine commanding officer, of any nation, when he assumed command of USS160Holland160 on October 12, 1900.
Harry Handly Caldwell was born in St. Louis, Missouri in on February 5, 1873. He was appointed to the United States Naval Academy from Quincy, Illinois in 1887 and graduated in 1891.
