Henri Becquerel
Antoine Henri Becquerel was a physicist, Nobel laureate, and the first person to discover evidence of radioactivity. For work in this field he, along with Marie SkodowskaCurie and Pierre Curie, received the 1903 Nobel Prize in Physics. The SI unit for radioactivity, the becquerel , is named after him.
Becquerel was born in Paris into a rich family which produced four generations of scientists Becquerels grandfather , father , and son . He studied engineering at the cole Polytechnique and the cole des Ponts et Chausses. In 1890 he married Louise Dsire Lorieux.
