Innocenzo da Berzo
Blessed Innocenzo da Berzo , born Giovanni Scalvinoni, was an Italian Roman Catholic priest and a professed member of the Order of Friars Minor or Capuchin branch of the Franciscan Order. Scalvinoni assumed his new religious name upon his profession as a Capuchin friar.
Giovanni Scalvinoni was born onMarch 1844 to Pietro Scalvinoni and Francesca Poli he was baptized with the name of Giovanni. He spent his childhood between Niardo the maternal village and Berzo Inferiore the paternal village. His father died when Giovanni was three months old in June 1844. Although his name is related to the village of Berzo Inferiroe he used the name of Innocenzo of Berzo after he was professed into the Order of Friars Minor.
