Inoue Kowashi
Viscount Inoue Kowashi was a statesman in Meiji period Japan.
Inoue was born into a samurai family in Higo Province , as the third son of Kar Iida Gongobei. In 1866 Kowashi was adopted by Inoue Shigesabur, another retainer of the Nagaoka daimy. Known as a highly intelligent child, Inoue entered the domains Confucian academy, eventually becoming one of the academys resident students. He fought on the imperial side in the Boshin War to overthrow the Tokugawa bakufu.
