Kyka Izumi , real name Kytar Izumi , is the pen name of a Japanese author of novels, short stories, and kabuki plays who was active during the prewar period.
Kyka was born Kytar Izumi on November 4, 1873 in the Shitashinmachi section of Kanazawa, Ishikawa, to Seiji Izumi , a chaser and inlayer of metallic ornaments, and Suzu Nakata , daughter of a tsuzumi handdrum player from Edo and younger sister to lead protagonist of the Noh theater, Kintar Matsumoto. Because of his familys impoverished circumstances, he attended the tuitionfree Hokuriku EnglishJapanese School, run by Christian missionaries.
