Manuelito

Chief Manuelito was one of the principal war chiefs of the Din people before, during and after the Long Walk Period. His name means Little Manuel in Spanish. He was born to the Btaan or Folded Arms People Clan, near the Bears Ears in southeastern Utah about 1818. As any Navajo, he was known by different names depending upon context. He was Ashkii Diyinii , Dahaana Baadaan , Hastiin Chilhaajinii and as Nabh Jitaa to other Din, and nonNavajo nicknamed him Bullet Hole.

Manuelito was born into the Bitahni Clan near Bears Ears, Utah where he was born and raised.
