A.F.M. Abdur Rahman
A F M Abdur Rahman is a justice of the High Court division of Supreme Court of Bangladesh. He was elevated to the High Court Division as additional judge onApril 2003 and confirmed as a permanent judge onApril 2005 by the then President of Bangladesh Iajuddin Ahmed.
Rahmans family is from Munshi Bari of village Baluakandi, Gazaria Upazila, Munshiganj District. But he was born onJuly 1951 at Bottola, Metiabruz, Calcutta. His father was a physician who was the fifth Muslim medical graduate of Calcutta Medical College graduated in the year 1930 with distinction, and practiced in Garden Reach,Parganas, West Bengal, India until 1960. Then he returned to East Pakistan , and worked as physician. He founded Gozaria Thana Jonokollan Shomity at Calcutta in 1948. He also worked as medical officer of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology , Dhaka from 1964 to 1966. He died onJuly 1989. His mother was Mosammat Mohsena Begum. She died onJanuary 1997.
