Aishwarya is a 2006 Kannada movie starring Upendra, Daisy Bopanna and introducing Deepika Padukone. The movie was directed by Indrajit Lankesh. The film featured Upendra as a rich advertisement executive and changed his mass image into a classy one. The film was a commercial success and was among the tophit films of 2006. The comedy sequences involving Daisy Bopanna was borrowed from the Tamil movie Ghajini and the main plot from the Telugu blockbuster Manmadhudu starring Nagarjuna and Sonali Bendre.
Aishwarya got a tremendous opening across Karnataka upon release. The film got a grand opening both in single screens and multiplexes as well. The film broke several opening box office records by generating a nett share of 1.5 crore and a total gross of 20million during its first week, out of which more than 10million came from BKT Bangalore, Kolar, Tumkur alone, once again proving Upendras strong foothold in the BKT region after his earlier record breaking opener Omkara which had also collected 10million nett from the BKT region in its first week. After its amazing performance at the box office during its firstweeks, the film was already declared a big hit. Aishwarya went on to complete 50 days of run atcentres across Karnataka and 75 days of run in Bangalore, and was a commercial success, although it could not reach expectations. Aishwarya grossed a total of 50million in its entire run of 75 days and was among the tophit films of 2006.
