Ammoru Telugu is a 1995 Telugu film produced by Shyam Prasad Reddy and directed by Kodi Ramakrishna. Beginning with an idiom resembling the mythological, the film transforms into a domestic family drama while maintaining its allegiance to folk legends about female village deities. The bigbudget hit was a major box office success and was noted for its special effects and its soundtrack, which used folk tunes and established the newcomer Soundarya as a major star. The Tamil dubbed version entitled Amman was also a hit. Ramya Krishna played the role of village Goddess Ammoru, while Soundarya portrayed Bhavani, her devotee.
