Benedita da Silva
Benedita Souza da Silva Sampaio is a Brazilian politician. During her life she faced prejudice for her humble origin, but overcoming this, became the first female and AfroBrazilian governor of the State of Rio de Janeiro and, later, Minister of the said Secretary of State as well in the Government of Luiz Incio Lula da Silva.
Benedita Souza da Silva Sampaio, was born on March 11, 1943 in Praia do Pinto, in Rio de Janeiro to Ovdia da Silva out of wedlock, despite the fact that Ovdia was married to someone other than Beneditas father. Her mother later revealed to Benedita who her real father was. She is one of Ovdiaschildren. Benedita da Silva is also known as Bene and is a key AfroBrazilian politician.
