Benjamin Marshall


Benjamin Marshall was an English sporting and animal painter. He was a follower of George Stubbs and studied under Lemuel Abbott for a short period of time.

He was born about 1767, exhibited thirteen pictures, chiefly portraits of racehorses and their owners, at the Royal Academy, 180112 and 18189. After 1792, he began painting animals, settling at Newmarket in 1812 near the racetrack.
