Charlotte Melmoth

Mrs Charlotte Melmoth was an 18thcentury English actress, the estranged wife of British actorwriter Samuel Jackson Pratt , and known as The Grande Dame of Tragedy on the Early American Stage After a mildlysuccessful stage career in Great Britain and Ireland she emigrated to America in 1793 and became one of the bestknown actresses of the late 18thearly 19th century.
