Chen Shui bian

Chen Shuibian is a retired Taiwanese politician and lawyer who served as President of the Republic of China from 2000 to 2008. Chen is the first president from Democratic Progressive Party , ended the Kuomintang more than fifty years ruled in Taiwan. He is colloquially referred to as ABian or in Taiwanese Hokkien .

Chen was born to an impoverished tenant farming family in Guantian Township of Tainan County on the second day of the ninth lunar month in 1950 but was not formally issued a birth certificate until February 18, 1951 because of doubts that he would survive.
