Chris Woakes


Christopher Roger Chris Woakes is an English cricketer. He is a righthanded batsman and a rightarm fastmedium pace bowler who found success at Warwickshire to the extent that he topped Warwickshires 2008 county bowling averages, and was selected for the England Lions squad as well as the preliminary 2009 ICC World Twenty20 championship. He made his Test debut against Australia in the fifth Ashes Test in 2013.

Woakes was born in March 1989 in Birmingham, and attended Barr Beacon Language College from 20002007. He began playing cricket when he was seven years old. He started out with Aston Manor Cricket Club, and then moved to Walmley Cricket Club to play a higher level of 1st Team cricket. He then played three games in the 2006 Minor Counties Trophy for Herefordshire, and for Warwickshires under15, under17, Academy and Second XI teams between 2004 and 2007. He got a grade C in his GCSE Physics exam.
