Clarence M. Mitchell, Jr.


Clarence M. Mitchell Jr. was a civil rights activist and was the chief lobbyist for the NAACP for nearlyyears. He also served as a regional director for the organization.

Mitchell was born in Baltimore, Maryland, to Clarence M. Mitchell, Sr., a waiter and Elsie Mitchell, a homemaker. Mitchells brother, Parren Mitchell, became a U.S. Congressman representing Marylands 7th congressional district.
