Dennis A. Blakeslee


Dennis Albert Blakeslee was an American politician who was the 54th Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut from 1911 to 1913.

Blakeslee was born in New Haven, Connecticut son of Charles Wells and Martha Jane Blakeslee. He worked on the farm and attended public schools. At the age of sixteen he began working for his father, a contractor, as a time keeper. He continued on with the company in Bridgeport and was in partnership with his father and his brother, Clarence, becoming a very successful contractor with particular emphasis on railroad construction. He married Lizzie Finette Law on December 4, 1878, and they had six children, Hattie F. Blakeslee, Martha Blakeslee, Albert D. Blakeslee, Harold L. Blakeslee, Miles Blakeslee, Grant Blakeslee, and Dorothy Blakeslee.
