Diego de Covarubias y Leyva


Diego de Covarrubias y Leyva or Covarruvias was a Spanish jurist and Roman Catholic prelate who served as Archbishop of Cuenca , Archbishop of Segovia , Archbishop of Ciudad Rodrigo , and Archbishop of Santo Domingo .

Covarruvias was born in Toledo, Spain, onJuly 1512. His father was Alonso de Covarrubias , an architect who designed the New Kings chapel of the Cathedral of Toledo. Diegos younger brother, Antonio de Covarrubias , would be a professor of law at the University of Salamanca and served as consejero of Castile.
