During the 2004 general election campaign, she traveled the country as DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffes press secretary. During the 2004 primary campaign, she served as Rep. Dick Gephardts South Carolina press secretary. Prior, Alexander was Rep. Adam Schiffs Communications Director and Deputy Press Secretary for U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer . In May 2011, Vice President Biden announced that Elizabeth Alexander would soon leave his office to practice law.
