Ellen Barkin


Ellen Rona Barkin is an American actress and film producer. Her breakthrough role was in the 1982 comedydrama film Diner, and the following years she had starring roles in films include Tender Mercies , The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension , and The Big Easy .

Barkin was born in The Bronx, New York, the daughter of Evelyn , a hospital administrator who worked at Jamaica Hospital, and Sol Barkin, a chemical salesman. Barkin was raised in a lowermiddleclass Jewish family, a descendant of immigrants from Siberia and the BelarusianPolish border.
