Elwood Lindsay Haines was a 20thcentury bishop in the Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States of America. He served as the bishop of the Diocese of Iowa from 19441949.
Haines was born in Woodstown, New Jersey to John and Jennie Haines, and was raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War I. He and his first wife, Martina Gordon, had two children. She died in 1932 and he married Cornelia McCoy Smith in 1933, with whom he had a daughter.
