Emily Ratajkowski

Emily OHara Ratajkowski is an American model and actress. Born in London to American parents, and raised primarily in California, she rose to prominence in 2013 after appearing in the controversial music video for Robin Thickes Blurred Lines, which became the number one song of the year in several countries.

Ratajkowski, an only child, was born in Westminster, London, to American parents. At Ratajkowskis birth, her mother, Kathleen Balgley, and father, John David J. D. Ratajkowski, were agedand 45, respectively, and unmarried. Balgley, an English professor and writer, described by Ratajkowski as a feminist and intellectual, was teaching under the Fulbright Program. Balgley met J. D. Ratajkowski, a painter and art teacher, when they both taught at San Dieguito Academy. The family lived in West Kensington and Bloomsbury before they settled in the United States in San Diego, California, when Ratajkowski was five. She was raised primarily in nearby Encinitas in a small house near the ocean. Balgley formerly taught at California Polytechnic State University.
