En Thangachi Padichava is a 1988 Tamil drama film directed by P. Vasu. The film features Prabhu, Rupini and Chithra in lead roles. The film, produced by Mohan Natarajan and Tharangai V. Shanmugam, had musical score by Gangai Amaran and was released onJuly 1988. The film completed a 100day run at the boxoffice. It was one of the blockbuster hit of the year and prompted further collaborations between prabhu and p.vasu.It was remade in Hindi as Aaj Ka Arjun starring Amitabh Bachchan, in Kannada as Ravimama starring V. Ravichandran and in Telugu as Muddula Mavayya starring Balakrishna.
In the past, Periasamy was an orphan who lived with his only sister Lakshmi. Lakshmi, after finishing her studies in the city, came back to her village. Periasamy and Valli Rupini were in love. She still against Karunakarans conspiracy. Lakshmi and Karunakarans son Chinnaiah fell in love each other and got married with Periasamys support. Chinnaiah went missing while Lakshmi became pregnant. Lakshmi found out that Chinnaiah was in his fathers house and it was Karunakarans master plan. Periasamy went there but he was humiliated by Karunakaran. In the meantime, Chinnaiah stabbed Lakshmi but Lakshmi gave birth before dying. The angry Periasamy killed Chinnaiah. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.The film score and the soundtrack were composed by film composer Gangai Amaran. The soundtrack, released in 1988, featurestracks with lyrics written by Gangai Amaran. ........
