Femke Halsema

160 Femke Halsema 160 is a former Dutch politician. She was a member of the House of Representatives from 1998 till 2011. She was also the leader of the GreenLeft parliamentary party in the House of Representatives from 2002 till 2010.

Halsema was born in Haarlem, North Holland into a socialdemocratic family. Her mother O.B.M. Fles was a longtime alderwoman for the socialdemocratic PvdA party in Enschede. Halsema is likely of Jewish descent on her mothers side, and she has said she was bullied as a child because of her dark looks.
