Flavia Pennetta

Flavia Pennetta is a retired Italian professional tennis player. She became Italys first top10 female singles player onAugust 2009 and the first Italian to be ranked world No.in doubles onFebruary 2011. She is a Grand Slam singles champion, winning the 2015 US Open by defeating Roberta Vinci in the first allItalian Grand Slam final.

Flavia Pennetta was born onFebruary 1982 in Brindisi, to Oronzo and Concetta Pennetta. She has an older sister, Giorgia. She was introduced to tennis at the age of five, and has cited Monica Seles as her tennis idol. Pennetta previously dated Carlos Moy. The two split in 2007 and she wrote of the traumatic breakup in her memoir, Dritto al cuore . Currently, she is involved in a relationship with compatriot ATP tennis player, Fabio Fognini.
