Frederic Seebohm (historian)


Frederic Arthur Seebohm, D.Litt was a British economic historian, born in Bradford, West Yorkshire. He was the second son of Benjamin Seebohm and Esther Wheeler . Benjamin Seebohm was a wool merchant at Horton Grange, Bradford, the family having moved to England from Bad Pyrmont in Germany. Frederic was the greatgrandson of philanthropist and Quaker William Tuke, and the younger brother of steel manufacturer and ornithologist Henry Seebohm . Frederic was educated at Bootham School , and later moved to London to become a barrister in the Middle Temple in 1856.
