Frederick Robertson Aikman


Colonel Frederick Robertson Aikman VC was a Scottish recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.

Aikman was born onFebruary 1828, and later baptised onMay. He was the son of Captain George Robertson Aikman, and decided to follow his father into military service.
