Suleiman I or simply Solomon as a Biblical nameNovember 1494160September 1566, commonly known as Suleiman the Magnificent in the West and Kanuni in the East, was the tenth and longestreigning Great Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, from 1520 to his death in 1566. Suleiman was born in Trabzon along the east coast of the Black Sea, probably onNovember 1494. His mother was Aye Hafsa Sultan little is known of her other than that she died in 1534.
