Gnther Adolf Ferdinand Hans von Kluge was a German Field Marshal who served in the First and Second World Wars. Born in 1882 into a Prussian military family in Posen , by 1916 Kluge was a staff officer with the rank of captain at the Battle of Verdun. He ultimately rose to the rank of field marshal in the Wehrmacht, which was confirmed at the 1940 Field Marshal Ceremony. Generalleutnant Wolfgang von Kluge was his younger brother, and another German officer, Karl Ernst Rahtgens, an active resistance fighter against the Nazi rgime, was his nephew.
