Gaayam

Gaayam Telugu , English Wound is a 1993 Telugu, political thriller film, based on Vijayawada Mafia. With screenplay and direction by Ram Gopal Varma, and story cowritten by Ram Gopal Varma and Mani Ratnam, the film starred Jagapathi Babu, Revathi, Kota Srinivasa Rao, and Urmila Matondkar in pivotal roles. Upon its release, the film received positive reviews, with six state Nandi Awards, and recorded as Super Hit at the box office.

The songs were composed by music director Sri. The lyrics were penned by Sirivennela Sitaramasastri. All songs are hit tracks.After the films huge success, Ram Gopal Varma and Jagapathi Babu planned to release a sequel titled Gaayam 2. Ram Gopal Varma was the producer in the sequel while Praveen Sri was the director. Vimala Raman was the heroine as Kota Srinivasa Rao again plays as the antagonist. ........
