Garbie Muguruza Blanco is a Venezuelanborn Spanish professional tennis player. As of 07 March 2016, she is ranked world no.in singles and no.in doubles by the WTA.

Muguruza was born in Caracas, Venezuela, to a Basque Spanish father, Jos Antonio Muguruza from Eibar, Gipuzkoa, and a Venezuelan mother, Scarlet Blanco and she has two brothers. She began playing tennis at the age of 3, and after moving to Spain with her family in 1999, Muguruza trained at the Bruguera Tennis Academy near Barcelona.
