Louis George, Margrave of Baden Baden


Louis George of BadenBaden was the Margrave of BadenBaden from 1707 till his death in 1761. From 1707 till 1727 his mother Sibylle of SaxeLauenburg was the regent of BadenBaden. He was succeeded by his younger brother August Georg Simpert. Because of his passion for hunting he was nicknamed Jgerlouis, the hunter Louis.

He was born at the Schloss Ettlingen and was the son of Louis William, Margrave of BadenBaden and his wife Sibylle of SaxeLauenburg. Hereditary Prince of BadenBaden from birth, at the death of his father in 1707, he succeeded as Margrave of BadenBaden at the age of four. As such, his mother was regent of BadenBaden while he was a minor. He reached his majority onOctober 1727 at the age of 25.
