Gerard Lyons

Gerard Lyons is a British economist and writer. He is an expert on the world economy, global financial markets and on economic and regulatory policy, focusing on international banking. He is currently economic adviser to the Mayor of London. He is regular commentator for the press and television, including Bloomberg and Sky News.

Lyons was born and was raised in Kilburn, London. His father, Francis, was a mechanical engineer before working for London Transport at Baker Street station his mother Anne was a house wife. He attended St Marys primary school, Kilburn and Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School London. He went on to study Maths and Economics at the University of Liverpool followed by a Masters in Economics at the University of Warwick.
