Gerd Paul von Below

GerdPaul Valerian Georg Heinrich von Below was a highly decorated Generalmajor of the Reserves in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knights Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. GerdPaul von Below was captured by Soviet troops in May 1945 and died in captivity in 1953.
